Awareness to Reduce Ozone Pollution by Dr. Trupti Das
Pollution today is one of the most important issues to be taken up for discussion and hence, on this World Ozone day, 16th September 2020, B. D. M. I. has taken up the initiative to help in the process of spreading awareness to reduce Ozone pollution. A webinar was organized which began with the welcome speech from the Principal, followed by the presentation made by the students who participated in the successful conduction of ozone day by making a video with voiceover including different animations with special effect and storyline highlighting the importance of the conservation of ozone–Ozone and UV–under the guidance of the science teachers. Dr. Trupti Das, Senior Principal Scientist, Department of Environment and Sustainability, CSIR-IMMT Bhubaneswar, joined the session and exposed the students, as well as the faculties to the idea of what exactly is tropospheric Ozone Pollution, using visual aids to highlight her discourse by showing detailed images and explain the workings of the various high-tech equipment currently used at the CSIR-IMMT facility. The seminar concluded on the note that it is important that we as individuals educate ourselves of the truths concerning the depletion of ozone. If each human in this world would be willing to make a small sacrifice for the greater good, the future would be secured. The experience was indeed enlightening and it ended with a vote of thanks and the hope for a better tomorrow.
