Conservation Conquests of B.D.M.I

Schneider Electric India Foundation in association with SHARP Ngo presented an educational training programme to build communities sensitive to energy conservation called: ‘’Conserve My Planet’’.this programme aims to educate the young minds about energy saving, energy efficiency, green energy, recyclable sources and renewable sources of energy. B.D.M.International along with various other prestigious schools across eleven cities in India partook in this agenda.

In the first phase the teachers were trained, followed by the registration of more than 150 students from classes V-VIII. T he students representatives were called ‘’The Green Ambassadors’’, and were given Green T-Shirt and cap. They went through elaborate workshops which included building up models on ‘’Conservation of Energy’’. The display and explanation of various models led to Quiz contests. The chief guest was Mr. Subhra Choudhury (General Manager, Planet Head of Factory,Kolkata). The show was honoured by the gracious presence of the Guests of Honour, Mr. Anurag Kapoor, (General Manager, CSR, Environment and Sustainable Development) and Mr. Deepak Tiwary (Assistant Manager, Field Sevices, Customer Support). The judges, Mr. Debojyoti Sen and Mr.Debasis Saha, seleted the finalists for the final programme. Six puplis out of the participating 150 students were selected by the resource person, Mr.Aranya Chatterjee. Jagnasenee Das (VI) emerged as the Green Champion.

15th December, 2017 the final show was hosted by B.D.M.International along with DPS Megacity, Calcutta Public School Kalikapur, Calcutta Public School Bidhan Park, National English School, Mount Litra Zee School and St.Mary and Jesus School as participants. DPS Megacity won the prizes for The Best Teacher Coordinator, Best Campaigner and Green Champion. They were appreciated for the availability of extreme greenery in the school. B.D.M.International bagged the awards for The Host School and The Best Participating School. Director of Education, Ms.Ruma Basu, teachers and students received host of other prestigious awards. The programme concluded with a vote of thank from the organizers.
