Fest and Festivity: B.D.M.I. Celebrates Annual Fest 2018

Hoisting up the flag of Glory, Glee and Gusto for the last 52 years B.D.M.International celebrated its Annual Fest on December 21, 2018. The pompous show was held at Nazrul Manch in the heart of the city. This year’s fest presented itself with an array of programmes. The celebration commenced with felicitating the guests of honour and the heads of the institution and was officially declared open with the performance by the tiny tots. The theme of their performance was Cleanliness: Inside Out. They projected the idea of not ignoring the little things that make the biggest differences in one’s life. The programme intended to promote values beyond textbooks and propagate ideas of a better future. The presentation of the little ones was followed by the performances by the students of the Upper Primary. These talented lots presented a dance drama, Khirer Putul, scripted by Abanindranath Tagore and the ethnic dances of West Bengal. Further the youngsters presented musicals which conveyed the message that children are like flowers in the garden, they should be loved for their unique identities and individualities. Following the queue was the performers of the middle school. Their theme was based on Vivartan: the story of evolution of Indian dance. They started off with dance performances followed by medley of songs. Honouring the forgotten cultural heritage of Dravid, Banga and Utkal the middle school performers presented dance of various forms and commenced the programme with devotional rendition of Sanskrit hymns. The revelry was further carried on by the Secondary and Higher Secondary students. The honourable Heads of the Institution presented the prizes to the achievers in various fields round the academic year, and the prize distribution was followed by dance and musical performances by the students. The theme of these performances was glorification of the inner power in one self and the importance and requirement of self respect in today’s world. The programme came to an end with a vote of thanks from the Principal and singing of the National Anthem. This year’s Annual Fest was a phenomenal success and B.D.M.I. waits with baited breath for the next season.
