Sailing Through: B.D.M.Ians Visit Khidderpore Dock

Realisation of responsibility is realisation of one’s destiny….Therefore, to keep them on correct track, it is very much important to instil a sense of responsibility and leadership among young students…the future of the nation. The visit of B.D.M.International students to the Khidderpore dock to spend some time among the Indian Navy was just an initiative to inculcate this passion and strength…
The Indian Navy, founded in 1612 by the East India Company has, over the years, safeguarded the nation’s maritime borders, both in war and peace. And…on the auspicious occasion of Navy Day, schools were provided the opportunity of visiting the Khidderpore dock , Kolkata….a major dock for the navy. B.D.M.International school took almost 72 students for this celebration on the 5th of December. The port berthed two major ships — INS KIRCH , a guided missile frigate and INS SUMEDHA , an offshore patrol vessel. The Students were taken onboard and were introduced to the various mechanisms of war ships and other equipments. The naval officers were extremely helpful in guiding all the young minds throughout the visit. They were extremely diligent, disciplined and served as role models to the students. Even, a lot of information were given as to how one can join the prestigious Indian Naval Service. Thus…the entire programme was enlightening and helpful for the students. More initiatives like this can make students aware of the extreme dignity and pride one can take in his/her work for the country.
