Webinar on Tropospheric Ozone Pollution – By Dr. Gargi Sengupta
B. D. M. I. organised a webinar on ‘Tropospheric Ozone Pollution’ as part of the World Ozone Day celebrations on 16th September, 2020. The main objective of this webinar was to remind all about the need to raise widespread awareness as well as a plan of action on ways to curb down ozone pollution. The webinar began with the speech from the Principal, followed by the presentation made by the students, who participated in the successful conduction of ozone day by making different animations with special effects and storylines highlighting the importance of the conservation of environment – to control land pollution – a major segment in the pollution specter, under the guidance of the science teachers. Even in this time of pandemic, awareness should never be halted, and B. D. M. I. was honored to have Dr. Gargi Sengupta, Associate Professor at Jhargram Raj College, an eminent personality and distinguished environmentalist as the Guest Speaker.
The entire session was highly informative and brought to light how serious the issue of Ozone pollution really is. She shared scientific facts, statistical data, modern day equipment and instruments in use, observations including and measures on how we can help through our daily activities to check tropospheric ozone pollution. She further congratulated the children for their wonderful presentations. The program ended with a vote of thanks and a conclusion to urge everyone to follow the steps to reduce pollution and make our home a healthy place to live in for generations to come.
