The Interact Club of B.D.M. International presents, on the occasion of World Photography Day, “Kindness Through Lens”—a celebration of lives often unseen and contributions rarely recognised. Through their lenses, our students captured the resilience, hard work and dedication of the unsung heroes of our society—from the idol makers of Kumartuli and bookstall owners of College Street to rickshaw pullers, scrap dealers and sanitation workers. In the rhythm of everyday life, their stories remind us that every hardworking hand deserves to be seen, valued and celebrated.

Be the Gamechanger – The Kurukshetra Konundrum
Peace is not the absence of conflict, but the ability to handle conflict by peaceful means. B.D.M. International hosted “Be the Gamechanger – The Kurukshetra Konundrum,” an immersive inter-school conflict-resolution challenge designed by The Tagore Institute of Peace Studies (TiPS). The event brought together 11 reputed schools of Kolkata. Inspired by the Mahabharata, participants assumed the roles of Bhishma, Krishna, Arjuna, Draupadi and Duryodhana, navigating the Kurukshetra dilemma through three rounds - Setting the Stage, Seeking Common Ground and Shaping the Agreement. Indus Valley World School emerged as the Winner, while South Point High School was the Runner-up, exemplifying the power of dialogue and responsible leadership.

National Space Day Celebration
Dream Big! Explore Space! Protect Earth! A spirit of curiosity and discovery filled B.D.M. International as students came together to celebrate National Space Day. The theme, “The Sky Is Just the Beginning—Let Curiosity Guide, Science Inspire, and Responsibility Protect Earth,” encouraged students to explore the wonders of space and understand the importance of protecting our planet. The celebration began with a student-led assembly featuring an engaging skit on space exploration and environmental responsibility. A vibrant space-themed art exhibition further showcased the creativity of our young learners through drawings, paintings, and models of planets, rockets, satellites, and other celestial objects. Adding to the excitement was a special webinar with distinguished space travellers, Mr. Boris Otter and Mr. Klaus Rainer from Swiss Space Tourism. Fascinating zero-gravity videos and real-life footage from space offered students an intriguing glimpse into space travel.

Draupadi Devi Khaitan Memorial Interschool Debate 2026
THE BATTLE OF WORDS AND WITS 2026. B.D.M. International hosted the prestigious Draupadi Devi Khaitan Memorial Interschool Debate 2026 on 8th August, in the esteemed presence of Ms. Madhumita Sengupta (Principal), Chief Guest Ms. Hilda Peacock, and Moderator Mr. Pradeep Gooptu. The event brought together brilliant young orators from 12 reputed schools across Kolkata to debate the motion: “Gene Editing Should Be Permitted When the Goal Is Preventing Diseases.” The distinguished panel of judges included Dr. Debika Guha, Dr. Tania Chakravertty, Prof. Manu Auddy, and Mr. Debashish Raychaudhuri, who commended the participants for their insight and eloquence. The competition witnessed powerful arguments, spirited rebuttals, and remarkable intellectual finesse. Best Team: Bhavan’s Gangabux Kanoria Vidyamandir. Runner-up: Indus Valley World School

Inter-School Yoga Competition YOGASANA
Yoga is the stilling of the fluctuations of the mind. — Patanjali. B.D.M. International proudly hosted the Inter-School Yoga Competition – Yogasana on August 8, 2026, as part of Samvriddhi, its Diamond Jubilee celebration commemorating 60 glorious years of excellence in education. Bringing together young yoga practitioners from 16 renowned schools across Kolkata, Yogasana was a vibrant celebration of discipline, grace, strength and concentration. Across three age categories—Prithvi (Under-12), Agni (Under-14) and Vaayu (Under-19)—the participants mesmerised the audience with their precision and control as they performed challenging asanas such as Vrikshasana, Matsyasana, Dhanurasana, Garbhasana, Sirsasana, Padahastasana and Ekapada Rajkapotasana. The presence of esteemed judges, inspiring addresses, felicitation and the much-awaited prize distribution added to the grandeur of the occasion.

Inter-School Chess Competition “SHATRANJ”
B.D.M. International hosted “SHATRANJ – Samvriddhi”, an Inter-School Chess Competition, on 8 August 2026 as part of its Diamond Jubilee celebrations. Guided by the ethos “Believing in togetherness, walking in togetherness,” the event brought together young chess enthusiasts from 13 schools across Kolkata. The competition was conducted across three age categories—Under-9: King’s Knights, Under-11: Heroic Horses, and Under-16: Rook’s Revenge—following the FIDE Swiss League System. The young players displayed remarkable focus, confidence, sportsmanship and fighting spirit, approaching every game with determination while respecting the spirit of healthy competition. The matches were conducted under the expert supervision of Mr. Surya Sarathi Dutta, Chief Arbiter; Mr. Ajit Sahani, Deputy Chief Arbiter; and Mr. Niladri Bose and Mr. Abhijeet Dutta, Assistant Arbiters. The felicitation ceremony was graced by the Chief Guest, Mr. Shyamol Dutta, National Chess Coach, former State Champion and Founder of the Calcutta Chess Academy. He was felicitated for his valuable contribution to promoting chess and inspiring young players. The Prize Distribution Ceremony marked the grand finale. B.D.M. International emerged victorious in all three age categories. In Under-9, South Point School and Ruby Park Public School secured the 1st and 2nd Runner-up positions respectively. In Under-11, South Point School and Mukundapur Birla High School were the 1st and 2nd Runners-up. In Under-16, The Future Foundation School and La Martiniere for Boys secured the 1st and 2nd Runner-up positions respectively. SHATRANJ – Samvriddhi concluded on a memorable note, celebrating not only victories but also the resilience, sportsmanship and indomitable spirit of every young player who made the championship truly special.

Inter-House Velocity 4.0
Innovation is where imagination meets action, and possibilities become reality. Entrepreneurial vision converged with youthful ingenuity as B.D.M. International hosted Velocity 4.0 - 2026, its flagship Inter-House Business Idea Presentation Competition. The event featured an eminent jury comprising two notable alumni of B.D.M. International - Mr. Amitava Guha Thakurta, Regional Director cum Zonal Head of the PVR INOX Ltd. and Ms. Subhashree Roy, Assistant Vice President, Group Enterprise Risk Management, HSBC. Joining them on the jury was Mr. Nilabha Ghosh, Founder of Decluttering Finance and a SEBI-registered Mutual Fund Expert. Eight teams showcased enterprising solutions through persuasive pitches, prototype demonstrations and innovative marketing strategies, addressing contemporary challenges across sustainability, healthcare, accessibility, finance and sports technology. The judges applauded the participants' originality, strategic foresight and entrepreneurial acumen, making the event a fitting celebration of innovation and future-ready leadership.

Painting exhibition and workshop at Indian Museum
Every artist was first an amateur. - Ralph Waldo Emerson B.D.M. International organised an educational visit to the Indian Museum, Kolkata, on 1 August 2026, where 35 students from Senior Secondary Painting Department participated in the special exhibition and workshop, Rathin Mitra: The Man and the Artist, held as part of the renowned artist's centenary celebration. The students explored Rathin Mitra's life, artistic philosophy and remarkable works through an engaging workshop conducted by Ms. Reena Mitra, Mr. Santosh Dutta and Ms. Reshmi Chatterjee. Inspired by the artist's meticulous craftsmanship, the students closely studied his works before creating their own artworks in his distinctive style. The session concluded with an exhibition of the students' creations and the presentation of appreciation certificates.

Celebrating Excellence Across Diverse Fields
B.D.M. International organised a Felicitation Ceremony to celebrate the remarkable achievements of the students in academics, competitive examinations and filmmaking, on 30 July 2026. The ceremony honoured the CBSE SSCE 2026 achievers after the second phase of declaration of Board results and celebrated the creative brilliance of students recognised at the 16th Dadasaheb Phalke Film Festival and the 15th Bangalore Short Film Festival for ‘Memory Frame’ in the Best Film (School) category. Students were felicitated with medals, plaques, mementoes and cash awards. A special tribute was accorded to Sabyasachi Laskar for his outstanding national-level accomplishments. His achievements include emerging as the West Bengal topper in NEET (UG) 2026 with AIR 35, securing Rank 9 in WBJEE 2026 and earning a commendable rank in JEE Advanced 2026. Now a student of IIT Kharagpur, he was presented with a certificate, plaque and a gold coin in recognition of his remarkable success. Gracing the occasion as Chief Guest, Mrs. Chameli Sardar, mother of Sabyasachi Laskar, encouraged the achievers to pursue their aspirations with humility and determination. Echoing her sentiments, the Principal urged students to uphold integrity, embrace lifelong learning and continue striving for greater success.

Career Kaleidoscope: An initiative by B.D.M.International in association with The Telegraph
A Career Counselling Workshop was organised by B.D.M. International on 30 July 2026 for the students of the Senior Secondary level in association with The Telegraph Young Metro and Career Launcher Kolkata. The informative and engaging session witnessed the enthusiastic participation of 240 students from Grades XI and XII. Mr. Nikunj Bhagat, an alumnus of IIM Bangalore, Chartered Accountant and Head of Career Launcher Kolkata, shared valuable insights drawn from his 25 years of mentoring students. The seminar highlighted new-age career options, challenges in career choices in India, careers beyond engineering and medical, UG programmes at renowned IIMs, entrance examinations and admission procedures.

Investiture Ceremony 2026-27
B.D.M. International formally inducted its Student Council for the academic session 2026–27 on the 28th of July 2026. Graced by Chief Guest Mr. Kalyan Mukhopadhyay, Retired IPS Officer, and Special Guest Ms. Joyita Biswas, Financial Specialist, Synovus Bank, Atlanta, the ceremony celebrated leadership, integrity, and service. The highlight of the ceremony was the Oath of Office, administered by the Principal, during which the newly invested leaders pledged to discharge their duties with sincerity, honesty, dedication, and compassion. They vowed to uphold the school's ideals, lead by example, respect diversity, and work collaboratively for the welfare of the entire student community.

Blood Donation Camp & OASIS 4.0
B.D.M. International organised two impactful social initiatives a Blood Donation Camp & OASIS 4.0 on 25 July 2026 under the aegis of the Interact Club. A Blood Donation Camp, conducted in association with Ruby Cancer Care and Research Foundation (R.C.C.R.F.), was inaugurated by renowned footballer Rahim Nabi. Parents, teachers, alumni and volunteers participated wholeheartedly, while the ‘Disha’ stall showcased spices and pickles prepared by rural children of Sundarbans. Simultaneously, OASIS 4.0, the annual Art Exhibition cum Sale, featured handmade creations by students, including coasters, paintings, paper bags and tablecloths, with the proceeds supporting associated NGOs. The exhibition received an overwhelming response, raising ₹11,425. Both initiatives beautifully reflected the Interact Club’s commitment to service, compassion and social responsibility while inspiring meaningful community engagement.

B.D.M. International, in collaboration with Networking - Every Career Counts (a unit of Aanay Edutech Pvt. Ltd.), organised Career Connect 2026 on 25 July 2026 for students of Grades IX to XII. The event featured representatives from 15 universities, offering students access to academic opportunities across 31 colleges and campuses nationwide. Through engaging interactions, students explored a wide spectrum of career pathways and gained insights into admissions, scholarships, research opportunities, internships, industry exposure and global academic opportunities. The programme empowered students to broaden their horizons, clarify their aspirations and make well-informed academic and career choices.

'Competition is a catalyst for excellence, it brings out the best in us.' Seventy-two little prodigies from Grades VI to VIII of B.D.M International participated in the Inter House Jingle Competition on 24.07.26. They made use of the opportunity to spread awareness about various issues concerning the environment, society and also about the different festivals. The event not only helped to bring out the competitive spirit of the learners but also provided them with a platform to showcase their creativity, command over the language and helped them to understand their true potential. The effort and enthusiasm of the participants were applauded by the Upper Primary Administrator and the judges. Unity and Courage houses secured the first position for their wonderful performances.

Success is where preparation and opportunity meet. — Bobby Unser We are proud to announce that our young champion, Ishaan RayChaudhuri of Grade IV, has secured the 15th Rank in the National Chess Championship and has secured the first position in the prestigious WB State U-9 Open & Girls FIDE Rated Chess Championship 2026! Competing against some of the sharpest young minds across West Bengal, Ishaan showcased remarkable strategic thinking, unwavering focus, and true sportsmanship on the board. His achievement in the National Championship has also earned him a well-deserved cash prize of ₹4,000! At such a young age, Ishaan's dedication and passion for chess set an inspiring example for all our students. We congratulate Ishaan and his family on this remarkable milestone.

Play School Teaching–Learning Workshop
The Interact Club of BDM International organized a Play School Teaching–Learning Workshop on 21 July 2026 with Amar Gram Play School, an initiative of Paribesh Unnayan Parishad, Sagar Island, South 24 Parganas. Conducted under the guidance of the Administrator, Pre-Primary,Ms Chandra Banerjee, the workshop aimed to promote innovative, child-centred teaching practices in early childhood education. Seven participants attended the programme. The day included classroom observations, a visit to the Aerospace Lab, interactive sessions on teaching strategies, teaching aids, and storytelling with props. The workshop ended on a positive note, encouraging collaboration and the sharing of best practices in early childhood education.

Our students have made the school proud with their excellent performances in the Antakshari Competition. From Group 1, Ishaana Dasgupta – VII-11 Asmita Sharma – VII-12 Aayush Mukherjee – VIII-13 have secured the third position and been awarded a trophy, book, kits and a cash prize of ₹2,100. From Group 2 Manya Shree – X-4 Harshita Gupta – XII (Commerce-D) Mayankamouli Lenka – IX-2 have been given the Protsahan Puraskar certificate for their participation in the event. Their excellence in the event is a testament of our learners' scholastic and co-scholastic prowess.

Special Assembly on Cyber Security awareness
The Secondary Section of B.D.M. International recently hosted an enriching Special Assembly focused on cyber security awareness alongside a prize distribution ceremony for various inter-house competitions. The event was graced by the Administrator of the Secondary Section and the Discipline Incharge. During the assembly, students gave insightful explanations regarding various issues concerning cyber security and displayed an engaging video presentation on the topic. In alignment with national directives, all students and teachers collectively took the cyber security pledge as mandated by CBSE Circular No: Acad-39/2026 dated 8th June 2026. This was followed by an address from the Administrator of the Secondary Section, who presented valuable key insights on digital safety. The winners of the inter-house competitions were then felicitated with certificates of merit presented by the Administrator and the Discipline Incharge. Finally, the memorable event concluded on a high note with the school choir and students joining together to sing the school song.

Prabhat Khabar Pratibha Samman and Guru Samman 2026 was held on 11th July 2026 at Bhasha Bhavan Auditorium, National Library, Alipore, Kolkata. The event celebrated meritorious students and dedicated teachers from various schools. B.D.M. International School proudly received multiple honours, with Mrs. Tapashi Dey being conferred the Guru Samman. Inter-House Yoga Competition 2026 for the students of Classes IX & X
B.D.M. International successfully organized the Inter-House Yoga Competition 2026 for the students of Classes IX & X (Secondary Wing) on 9th July 2026, celebrating fitness, discipline, and holistic well-being. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from all four Houses—Courage, Wisdom, Unity, and Justice. Students showcased impressive flexibility, balance, strength, agility, and coordination through the graceful performance of various yogic asanas. Their confidence, precision, and synchronization reflected dedicated practice, perseverance, and commitment. A special highlight of the programme was the soulful presentation of Surya Namaskar, followed by the chanting of the Shanti Mantra, creating a serene atmosphere and reinforcing the values of harmony, mindfulness, and inner peace. The audience appreciated the inspiring performances and gained valuable insights into the role of yoga in promoting physical fitness, mental well-being, emotional balance, and a healthy lifestyle. The competition concluded on a high note, with participants earning appreciation for their discipline, sportsmanship, and outstanding performances. At B.D.M. B.D.M. International was honoured with the prestigious 'Shreshtha Vidyalaya Samman – Class XII' under the 'Ram Avatar Gupta Shiksha Sankalp, 2026' initiative in recognition of the school's outstanding performance in Hindi and its significant contribution to the field of education. The award was presented at a grand ceremony organised by SANMARG at G.D. Birla Sabhagar on 3 July 2026. The honour was received on behalf of the school by the School heads and representatives of the Hindi Department. The recognition celebrates the remarkable achievements of the school's Class XII students in Hindi and acknowledges the institution's continued commitment to academic excellence and holistic education. World Environment Day & World Environment Week celebration
From our Pre-Primary to Senior Secondary students, everyone came together to celebrate and promote environmental sustainability. Students participated in sapling plantation drives, kitchen gardening, eco-friendly activities, inspiring assemblies, pledges, speeches, skits, and climate awareness programmes. The Senior Secondary section also explored the impact of urbanisation on climate change through insightful presentations.

We are honoured to welcome Shri A. S. Kiran Kumar, former Chairman of ISRO. He was awarded the Padma Shri, in recognition of his outstanding contributions to the fields of science and technology. Shri Kiran Kumar also served as the Director of the Space Applications Centre, Ahmedabad, and has played a pivotal role in advancing India’s space programme.
