B.D.M. International has strengthened its conservation commitment by adopting two birds from the Alipore Zoological Garden, one White-necked Stork and one Emu.
The White-necked Stork, a large wetland bird, has witnessed a steady population decline due to loss of wetlands, pollution, and human encroachment. As a vulnerable species in many regions, it requires active protection and habitat conservation. Emu, the world’s second-largest bird, faces threats in captivity from habitat changes, climate stress, and reduced genetic diversity.
BDMI has adopted these birds to support their welfare, promote awareness about endangered species, and sensitise students to the urgent need for biodiversity conservation. This initiative reflects the school’s continued commitment to nurturing environmentally responsible citizens.
